Pocono TreeVentures Now Open

Saturday, July 6, 2013

BUSHKILL, PA (SUMMER 2013) – Pocono TreeVentures, the newest aerial adventure ropes course in the Pocono Mountains, opened to the public on July 19. The 66 element five course park offers aerial platform to platform challenges from beginner to expert levels. Gina Bertucci, spokesperson, comments, "We have been working on the design and construction of this course with Outdoor Ventures, one of the premier ropes course and zip line developers in the world."

Outdoor Ventures Group, LLC (OVG) designs, builds and operates Aerial Forest Parks throughout the world. Established in 2008, OVG was inspired by Swiss adventure parks and promotes active enjoyment of the outdoors where you appreciate nature while engaging in activities that are fun, challenging, building confidence, and are good for your health. Unique to Outdoor Ventures, the company designs parks using the award winning SAFE LINK Smart Safety "intelligent belay" System with double-connected safety clips that help guests stay connected to a safety line.

Course construction began earlier this year with completion in early July. Andy Worthington, President and CEO of Bushkill Group Inc. owners of The Villas at Tree Tops and Fairway®, Fernwood Resort, Minisink Financial, Blue Lightning all season tubing, and TreeVentures, said, "This new amenity is a perfect fit for the culture of recreation in the Pocono Mountains. It gives guests the opportunity to experience the pastoral beauty of the wooded setting of the course while challenging them with physical activities that range from easy to extremely challenging." He continues, "With the construction of Blue Lightning tubing which will also open this month, we have spent over one million dollars adding new attractions to the region with the creation of 25 new jobs."

Aerial adventure parks contain courses made of small platforms constructed at various levels in the trees. The platforms are connected by different types of bridges that represent obstacles. Participants maneuver from platform to platform wearing double belay safety harnesses. Worthington continues, "The great feature of our new course is that it allows individuals new to the sport of aerial ropes courses with a beginner course that is close to the ground and has features that are easier to maneuver. However, the expert course takes you over 30 feet in the trees and has the most difficult features to challenge even the most experienced outdoor ropes enthusiast." In addition to the ropes course, the new park will also offer dual racing zip lines that give guests the feeling of flying through the air like a bird.

Ropes course tickets range in price from $40 - $44 for adults and $35 - $39 for juniors age 7 to 11 depending upon season. The course is open from March through December with special discounts for groups of 12 or more. Sessions are two hours in length and self guided. Zip line tickets are sold as single rides or two packs. Bertucci said, "You can either choose to stay on the same level or progress at your own pace to higher and more difficult levels within your two hour session. The course has aerial guides posted throughout to assist guests with questions and suggestions on how to maximize their aerial ropes experience."

Pocono TreeVentures is located on Route 209 in Bushkill, PA on the property of Fernwood Resort. Guests are fitted with a harness appropriate for their size and weight then given an introductory course in how to use the belay system and the zip lines between elements. After that, they are invited to the main platform where they select their course level from yellow beginners to the expert level of black and off they go.

Bertucci concludes, "We are offering packages that allow you to stay in the nearby Fernwood Resort villas and spend the day in the trees then relax in the pool, have a massage, eat dinner at Wintergreens, golf, horseback ride, canoe on the Delaware, paintball, hike at Bushkill Falls, and try the new Blue Lightning tubing park – the only all season tubing park in the Pocono Mountains. Now is the time for that much needed getaway while there is still plenty of summer left." For course information go to or call 800-446-0231.
